Pick-up from Marrakech, Agadir, or Ouarzazate: Begin your adventure with a convenient pick-up from your hotel or airport. Stop at Ait Ben Haddou: On the way to M'Hamid El Ghizlane, we’ll visit Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its ancient kasbahs and iconic architecture. It’s a place steeped in history, famous for its role in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Arrival in the Sahara: As night falls, you'll be welcomed by our expert guides and embark on your first night in the Sahara. Spend the night under the stars in a traditional desert camp, surrounded by the tranquility of the vast desert.
First Desert Walk: The day begins with a camel trek as you follow the tracks of the scarabs, a symbol of resilience and endurance in the desert. Bertham Dunes: We’ll journey through the Bertham Dunes, an ancient nomadic settlement, where you’ll walk in the footsteps of camel herders from centuries ago. The vast dunes stretch out before you, offering a glimpse into the nomadic way of life. Camp at Oued Laam: After a day of walking, we’ll set up camp by the tranquil Oued Laam and gather around a campfire to share stories under the endless starry sky.
Marabout Sidi Naji: Today’s trek takes us to Marabout Sidi Naji, a sacred sanctuary for the ancestors of the Nouaji tribe. This site holds deep cultural and spiritual significance, offering insight into the local traditions and beliefs that have survived the test of time. Overnight in the Desert: We’ll set up camp at the marabout, where you’ll spend the evening immersed in the profound silence of the desert, gazing up at the stars and enjoying the warmth of the fire.
Palmeraie & Departure: After a relaxing breakfast, we’ll cross the palmeraie (palm grove) of a nearby village, soaking in the lush green contrast against the desert landscape. Return to Marrakech/Agadir/Ouarzazate: It’s time to bid farewell to the desert as we return to your departure city, where your driver will drop you off at your chosen location.
Yes, this trek is easy to moderate and can be adapted to suit all fitness levels. You’ll be walking between 6-10 km a day at a relaxed pace.
